Patent-Protected Innovation-Build for chaos and real life.

Quartz PC was invented by a wood enthusiast who had a disdain for the look of plastic floors. With Quartz, there is a lot more control when it comes to sheen levels of the floor. Quartz PC is also the hardest resilient flooring on the market today! Passes most AC6 requirements and exceeds 7,000 rotations on the tabor test, so it has been in many areas of heavy traffic including colleges, hotels and restaurants all over the globe. It is also a fireproof and of course waterproof. So handling busy households with kids, dogs, and crazy uncles, there is not much that Quartz PC cannot stand up to.

The Role of Light Reflection

Real hardwood floors absorb light because wood fibers are naturally matte. This allows the grain and texture to appear deeper and more natural.

Traditional vinyl flooring uses a plastic wear layer that reflects light across the surface. This reflection creates the glossy appearance many homeowners recognize as "the vinyl look."

Quartz PC was engineered with a quartz-infused mineral surface that diffuses light similar to natural wood, creating a more authentic appearance.

Quartz PC vs Traditional Vinyl Flooring

Feature

Quartz PC Flooring

Traditional Vinyl / SPC Flooring

Surface Material

Quartz-infused mineral surface

Plastic (PVC) wear layer

Appearance

Authentic matte European oak look

Often glossy plastic sheen

Scratch Resistance

Highly scratch resistant due to quartz minerals

Scratches more easily over time

Yellowing Over Time

Will NOT yellow

Can yellow when exposed to sunlight and heat

Surface Realism

Natural wood appearance without artificial shine

Plastic look can appear less realistic

Durability

Designed for heavy residential and commercial use

Good durability but dependent on wear layer thickness

Long-Term Appearance

Maintains original look for years

Surface wear and gloss changes can occur

Scratch Resistant Test

Traditional vinyl flooring relies on a plastic wear layer that scratches easily over time. Quartz PC uses a quartz-infused mineral surface designed to resist scratching even under heavy use.

Stain Proof

Quartz PC has been tested against nearly every common household stain — and passed every time. Red wine, mustard, coffee, acetone, and even a black permanent marker were no match for our quartz-infused surface. See the Testing tab for full results. Let your kids play away!

The Test That Sold a Skeptical Flooring Dealer

Before recommending a new flooring product to her customers, Erika Frey, owner of Carpet Solutions & More in Fort Collins, Colorado, prefers to test products herself.

When Erika first heard the performance claims behind Quartz PC, she was intrigued—but skeptical. So she decided to conduct her own real-world durability test.

A Three-Month Colorado Sun Test

In July 2025, Erika placed a Quartz PC sample outside in direct Colorado sunlight and left it there for three full months. The plank was exposed to:

  • Intense UV sunlight
  • Heavy rain
  • Extreme day-to-night temperature swings

During the test, Erika documented temperatures directly on the plank surface. At one point the sample reached 128°F, while the concrete underneath frequently exceeded 100°F during the day before cooling overnight.

At higher elevations like Fort Collins—over 5,000 feet above sea level—direct sunlight through windows can cause traditional vinyl flooring to overheat, buckle, or yellow over time. Erika wanted to see if Quartz PC would hold up under the same conditions.

The Result

After three months outdoors, Erika brought the sample back inside and compared it to the control sample she had kept indoors. The result was surprising.

The outdoor sample looked exactly the same as the control sample.

  • No yellowing.
  • No discoloration.
  • No visible surface degradation.

Erika's Conclusion

"When I first heard the claims about Quartz PC, I was skeptical. So I decided to test it myself. After three months outside in Colorado sun, rain, and extreme heat, the sample looked exactly the same as the control sample I kept inside. I was blown away."

Why This Matters

Colorado receives over 300 days of sunshine per year, making it one of the most demanding environments for flooring exposed to sunlight. Based on her test, Erika believes Quartz PC is an excellent option for:

  • Homes with large windows and heavy sun exposure
  • Mountain homes and seasonal cabins
  • Off-grid homes that are not always climate controlled

And according to Erika, there's only one thing left to ask for:

"Just give us more colors."

Why Vinyl Floors Yellow or Discolor Over Time

Vinyl floors can discolor for several reasons, most of which come down to chemical reactions within the material. The most common causes include:

  • UV exposure: Prolonged sunlight causes oxidation, breaking down the plasticizers in vinyl and leading to yellowing or fading.
  • Plastic migration: Rubber-backed mats, rugs, or furniture pads can leach chemicals into the vinyl surface, causing staining or discoloration over time.
  • Heat and trapped moisture: Excess heat or moisture beneath the floor can trigger reactions within the vinyl layers.
  • Cleaning product residue: Harsh or incompatible cleaners can leave behind chemical residue that degrades the surface finish.

The End of the Vinyl Era

Most vinyl flooring uses a plastic wear layer and printed film to create the appearance of wood. While durable, this plastic surface can create a glossy artificial appearance, scratch over time, and yellow with prolonged sunlight exposure. Vinyl is yesterday's technology.

The Quartz PC Difference

Instead of a plastic wear layer, Quartz PC uses a quartz-infused mineral surface that diffuses light like real wood — creating a stronger, more natural-looking floor that stands the test of time. While vinyl relies on plastic to imitate wood, Quartz PC uses mineral technology to deliver what vinyl simply cannot:

  • ✔ Authentic matte hardwood appearance
  • ✔ Superior scratch resistance
  • ✔ Long-term color stability — will not yellow
  • ✔ Heavy residential and commercial durability
  • 🪨 Quartz Infused Surface
  • 🌞 Will Not Yellow
  • 🔥 Will not burn
  • 🛡 Scratch Resistant
